Microsoft 365 Admin Lab:

Managing Cloud Productivity Services

Tenant Setup with Exchange Online, Teams, and SharePoint

The lab began by setting up a new Microsoft 365 tenant. Key workloads such as Exchange Online for email, Microsoft Teams for collaboration, and SharePoint Online for document management were provisioned.

Managing User Licenses, MFA, and Compliance Policies

Once the tenant was active, I practiced user account creation and license assignment. Licenses for Office apps, Teams, and Exchange were applied to test accounts.

Security configuration included enabling Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for all admin accounts and selected users. I also experimented with compliance policies such as retention labels and DLP (Data Loss Prevention) rules.

Teams Policy Configuration and Meeting Rules

Microsoft Teams administration was another key focus. I created and tested Teams policies to control chat, meeting, and app permissions.

For example, I restricted anonymous meeting join options, enabled recording policies, and tested custom meeting rules. These configurations help enforce organizational standards for communication.

Mailbox Migrations and Group Permissioning

To simulate real-world scenarios, I practiced mailbox migrations from on-premises Exchange to Exchange Online. The lab covered staged migration options and troubleshooting failed moves.

Additionally, I explored group permissioning in Microsoft 365 Groups and SharePoint. Assigning roles and adjusting access helped me understand collaborative security models within M365.

Conclusion

The Microsoft 365 Admin Lab provided hands-on experience in managing enterprise cloud services. From tenant setup and license assignment to Teams policy enforcement and mailbox migrations, each exercise reinforced essential administration tasks.

This lab highlighted the importance of security, compliance, and structured governance in Microsoft 365 environments, preparing IT admins to manage real-world deployments.
